Full-Stack Senior Rails Developer

Part Time

Salary: Negotiable

HTML5 CSS3 jQuery Ruby-on-Rails

We are a remote company looking for a Ruby on Rails rockstar to help us build the next generation of our marketplace.

The candidate will be working directly with the founder, who developed version 1 of the platform 19 years ago.  We are looking for a RoR developer to work on version 2, that is due to launch in beta by the end of the year.  The old site can be seen at www.megaspin.net. It is a marketplace for high-end table tennis products but you definitely don't need to be a table tennis pro for this role!  You can learn more about Megaspin through this interview.

We use RoR with Redis, and ElasticSearch and have excellent test coverage. We use Vue for part of our front-end with small sprinkles of JS around the site in jQuery.  We communicate tasks on Github.

The company plans to develop standalone e-commerce SaaS products next year that could be spun off into new businesses.

The job can be done from anywhere, but a European or US timezone is preferred.

We expect the job to be a long-term role in which the developer will have enough work to fill a 20hr/week role, with the option of working more when things are busier.

The Rails developer must have at least 5 years experience building entire web applications in Rails from start to finish. Good knowledge of Vue is a plus.

The Rails developer must be:
- very knowledgeable of web application security and writing secure Rails code,
- able to build high-performance applications with appropriate use of caching,
- write code that is easy to read and maintain and
- able to build responsive HTML interfaces from mockups.
